Sunday Zip Jacket by Style Arc

You can never have too many layering options for cooler weather! I decided to try out Polartec’s Alpha Direct fleece and thought the Sunday Zip Jacket from Style Arc would be the perfect pattern for this project. I wanted something beyond a basic raglan design—something with a bit more shape and flexibility. Plus, it works well for both Ryan and me, which is always a bonus!

Style and Fit

The Sunday Zip Jacket pattern is a casual, semi-fitted jacket that’s both comfy and versatile. The princess seams give it a bit of shape and structure and offer a fun opportunity to get creative with color blocking. The zip at the front turns this jacket into a great layering piece for all seasons. It features a hood (with the option to add a drawstring), and the raglan sleeves have a wide hem to keep it relaxed and comfortable. The hemline is slightly longer in the back, and you can even add inseam pockets for extra functionality.

Sizing

The pattern comes in 17 sizes and fits chests from 30.3 to 67.8 inches, waists from 23.5 to 61 inches, and hips from 32.6 to 70.1 inches.

My Measurements

I’ve highlighted my current body measurements in the table above along with my size. My current body measurements are 17-inch shoulder breadth, 11.5-inch upper arm girth, 40-inch bust, 34-inch waist, 44-inch lower torso/hip. Based on my shoulder breadth, I started with a size 18. Though my other measurements fall into smaller sizes, I prefer to make sure I have enough room in the shoulders and adjust the rest as needed.

Ryan’s Measurements

Ryan’s current body measurements are 17-inch shoulder breadth, 12-inch upper arm girth, 39-inch chest, 32-inch waist, and 42-inch lower torso/hip. I also made him a size 18.
