An Update on the redesigned Shop Pant from Open Studio

Nearly a year and a half ago, I shared my experience with the Shop Pant from Open Studio, highlighting some discrepancies in their original pattern. At the time, I found that the waistband measurements were much larger, and the hip measurements were smaller than indicated in the final garment table. After contacting Open Studio, they acknowledged the mistake and promised to update the pattern.

It took some time, but I’m happy to report that the pattern has finally been updated. The body measurement and final garment tables are now accurate, and the pants are size-inclusive, too! However, it’s important to note that the pattern has undergone significant changes, so the fit will not be the same as before.

The Previous Size Chart: A Look Back

I found significant discrepancies when I first measured the pattern waistband and compared it to the final garment waistband measurements. The smaller the size, the larger the difference. While the pattern suggested about 1/2 inch of ease at the waist, I found 2-4 inches instead.

The hip measurements were also a challenge. They were often narrower than listed in the final garment table, with the actual ease sometimes being less than 0 inches.
