I’m finally getting around to blogging about Ryan’s Arrowsmith tank top pattern. As a bonus, I adjusted the pattern for myself, so this is a two-for-one review.
Analyzing Style and Fit
The Arrowsmith undershirt is a free sleeveless tank top pattern. The pattern features a deep crew neck with enlarged armholes finished with binding.

Sizing
The pattern ranges from 35 to 47.5-inch chest and 29 to 42-inch waist.
| XS | S | M | L | XL | XXL | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chest | 35 | 37 | 39 | 41.5 | 44.5 | 47.5 |
| Waist | 29 | 31 | 33 | 36 | 39 | 42 |
Body Measurements
Ryan’s current body measurements are a 39-inch chest and a 33-inch waist, and my current body measurements are a 40.5-inch chest and a 36-inch waist. Given our body measurements, we should have started with a size L, but since I made this pattern years ago for Ryan when his body measurements were very different, I started with a size XL instead. His tank tops still fit great, so I didn’t feel the need to go down a size. I never posted the adjustments I made all those years ago, anyway. Since his tank tops fit me reasonably well, I will also post about my version and adjustments. Again, the starting size for both of our fits is size XL.
