Fitting Workflow for the Sage Tee – Part 2, Armhole

In Part 1, I focused on all the adjustments I tried for the shoulders. In this section, I will focus on changes to the armhole.

Preparing the Pattern

As a reminder, I’m loosely following J Stern’s bodice workflow, but I am ultimately trying to find a process that works for me. This is by no means a complete tutorial on how to fit a top; it is just my attempt at creating a workflow that helps me work through changes efficiently and effectively.

Once I recorded all my shoulder adjustments, the next step was to lengthen the front and back body pieces. How much you lengthen is up to you and your body. At this point, I didn’t want to worry about fitting around my hips, so I aimed for roughly my natural waistline (i.e., red dotted line).
