2023 August Recap

I’m a bit late in posting this on my blog, but here’s my August update. Summer is my designated time for relaxation, and this June, July, and August were no exception. As much as I can, I try to give myself the freedom to unwind without pressure to accomplish tasks. This summer, I found solace in reading two insightful books, “Laziness Does Not Exist” by Devon Price and “Wintering: The Power of Rest and Retreat in Difficult Times” by Katherine May, which both underscored the significance of rest in our lives. So here’s to accomplishing nothing this month since I had to unravel Ryan’s socks and start over when I realized the yarn was thinner than expected, resulting in socks that were too tight.

So far this year, I’ve spent $2,509.10, bringing my monthly average spending to $313.64.

I spent $113.41 this month on various items such as fabric, patterns, and lingerie elastic.

I’ve completed 39 projects for the year, with a monthly average of 4.875.

Furthermore, I devoted 22 hours and 30 minutes to knitting this month, contributing to 261 hours and 30 minutes spent on sewing and knitting so far this year.

Documenting my work has been a helpful way for me to find gratitude for the ability to engage in creative pursuits. It’s a reminder that embracing rest during the summer is acceptable and essential. Overemphasizing constant accomplishments can lead to burnout or, in our crafting world, a loss of sewing or knitting mojo. Regardless of whatever cute name we give it, it is still burnout. Here’s to taking breaks!
